Sandmining royalties minimal

Considering the damage to North Stradbroke Island’s environment and its future economy, the royalties paid by the mining company are minimal.

The mining company, Sibelco (formerly Unimin), pays about $5 million each year in royalties to the Queensland government. This is just one quarter of one percent of Queensland’s total mining revenue.  (See more.)
